8th Grade Scholar and Parent Updates

Dear 8th Grade Scholars and Families,

It has been 8 weeks since the last time that we gathered in our school building and all your

teachers and administrators miss you dearly. I am extremely proud of your consistent attendance in zoom classes and your submission of assignments via google classroom. I know that many of you are concerned about the next steps for your 8th grade activities now that school will remain virtual for the rest of this school year. This letter provides updates regarding 8th grade activities and refund of dues based on the information we have gathered to date.

 Moving Up Ceremony and 8th Grade Social

Due to the social distancing requirements that are still in place throughout the state of New Jersey our 8th grade moving up ceremony and class social have been cancelled. We are looking to plan a virtual party to allow scholars to interact with their peers, listen to music, and have some fun.

 8th Grade Dues

For the 8th grade class dues there are three categories of monies that were collected throughout the school year and the status of next steps for each are listed below:

  • Class Ring: Scholars that paid for a class ring will still receive a class ring from the company

Jostens. Therefore, the monies for class rings are non-refundable.

  • Cap and Gown/8th grade Swag $40 dues: Scholars that paid the $40 dues for cap and gowns

and the swag bag will still receive these items. To date the cap and gowns have arrived at the building. The class t-shirt, keychain and autograph book are also being shipped by the company.

All items will be distributed to all scholars who have paid therefore the $40 submitted is non-refundable.

  • Social/ Yearbook and Class Trip $200 dues: The $200 class dues that was collected included the payment for an individual hard copy yearbook, social and class trip. 

The yearbook will be a digital copy and with the cancellation of the class trip and social we will be able to issue a full refund for any dues collected in this category.

 Issuance of Refunds

In order to practice social distancing and the current quarantine rules our 8th grade advisors will prepare the refunds throughout the remainder of May. A schedule for refunds will be distributed for pick up beginning the first week of June.

In closing, we know that our 8th grade Class of 2020 are disappointed in the cancellation of their celebratory events and we are committed to creating a virtual celebration that will take place on Tuesday, June 23rd at 10:00 a.m. to allow them a chance to celebrate. We thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work to prepare our refund process as well as solidify the packaging of all of their 8th grade memorial for later distribution.
