Our Superintendent, Chief of Staff & Principals welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year!

August 27, 2019

Dear Families and Friends of MPTCS,

I hope you and your family enjoyed your summer break. On behalf of the Board of Trustees and all employees in the Village, I’d like to welcome you to the 2019-2020 SY; The Year of Transformation.  We have reimagined our schools to ensure they are preparing all scholars for the social and labor demands of the 21st century.  While we celebrated the 20th anniversary of our school last year, we are excited to open the doors to our future on September 3, 2019 at 7:30 AM.

As you may know, Marion P. Thomas Charter School is now a part of the BRICK Education Network.   Joining the Network has provided us the support we’ve needed to enhance our curriculum, teacher and leader quality, parental involvement and operational efficiency.

This year we introduce new leaders, staff, afterschool programs and enhanced courses of study that go beyond academics and focus on our scholar’s social-emotional well-being and development.  We remain committed to the vision of our founding CEO and strive to ensure all scholars graduate ready for college, careers and life in the 21st century.

Instruction begins for all Pre-K – 8th grade scholars at 8:00 AM.  High School scholars begin their day at 8:25 AM.   Breakfast will be served on all elementary campuses from 7:30 - 7:55 AM.  If your Pre-K – 8th grade scholar arrives after 7:55 AM, they will be provided breakfast in the classroom.   Breakfast for high school scholars will be served from 7:30-8:15 AM.  Any scholar entering the high school after 8:15 AM will be provided a grab and go breakfast as classes will begin at 8:25 AM.

While we’ve had several opportunities for families to meet our new leaders, or those returning, I invite all families and scholars to our Back to School Barbeque on August 29, 2019 from 3 – 6 pm.  Each campus will host a barbeque which will provide families and scholars opportunities to meet the staff, win prizes, and eat delicious food.   I hope you can join us.

This year will prove to be transformational.  The village remains on the move and we are committed to creating a network of schools that ensure scholars make seamless transitions from crayons to college, careers, then life in the 21st Century.

We look forward to seeing all scholars on September 3, 2019, if not, at our Back to School Barbeques.   As you will often hear me say, “a better tomorrow, starts with us today.”
