The village was visited by Chef Kardea Brown. She is a Food Network chef and she came to the high school to talk with culinary students discussing her journey from working as a social worker to a celebrity chef. Some of her feats included guest judging on multiple shows such as Chopped Junior, appearances on Rachel Ray, The Chew and Paula Deen’s kitchen.
Kardea is an accomplished culinary expert whose specialty is Gullah food which a mixture of West African and Southern cuisine. The students were introduced to her origin story of starting off as a social worker in Newark, NJ with a love for cooking to being picked to feature on multiple shows.
Chef Kardea’s recipe for success was “Keep working hard for what you want and don’t let anyone tell you No.”
