    My name is Mrs. Confrancisco and I am responsible for the special education and special services departments. Before joining MPTCS I served as a Supervisor of Special Education in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; school psychologist in Oradell, NJ; and teacher of pre-k and kindergarten in Michigan. I earned my undergraduate degree at Montclair State College; a Masters  degree from Western Michigan University; and a post-graduate certificate in Educational Leadership at Montclair State University.



    Mariam Yowakim
    Social Worker

     Hello, My name is Mariam Yowakim, and I am the School Social Worker at Marion P. Thomas Charter School. I graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Social Work. Thankfully, I get to work with your children every day to help cultivate an environment of calmness and safety. My goal is for each student to feel heard and understood and to be able to express their feelings in the most constructive way possible. I am also the Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) coordinator and a part of the Child Study Team.

    Shauna Kennedy
    Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC)
    Hello! My name is Ms. Shauna Kennedy and I am the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) for the Village (K-12). I have been a part of the village for 2 years.  I give educational strategies and interventions to teachers, do observations as well as test students who are referred to the Child Study Team. I have an undergraduate degree in Special Education from East Carolina University, a Masters’ in Teaching Special Education from National University as well as a Masters’ in Principal/Administration from Monmouth University. I also have educational certificates as an LDTC, Teacher of the Handicapped and a Supervisor. I taught for 18 years as a Special Education teacher in Self-Contained, Resource Room and In-Class Support classrooms in central New Jersey and as a Resource Teacher Coordinator in another Charter School in Newark for 2 years. Currently, I am supporting the Elementary MPTCS campus by assisting with Breakfast duty and with the after school/enrichment programs as well as being a member of multiple committees.  

     Audrey McTiernan
    Speech Language Pathologist

     Hi! My name is Audrey McTiernan and I am the Speech Language Pathologist at Marion P. Thomas Charter School. This is my second year here and I service the scholars in grades K - 12. I received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Seton Hall University. I continued my education at Seton Hall University where I obtained my Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology. I enjoy being part of this village and watching all the scholars grow!

    Erin Rooney
    School Psychologist

    Greetings MPTCS Village! My name is Erin Rooney and I am the School Psychologist for the entire Village. I have the pleasure of working with scholars in grades K-12 as a member of the MPTCS Child Study Team and I also serve as a case manager for students in kindergarten, first, and second grades who are receiving special education and/or related services. As both a School Psychologist and IEP case manager, I enjoy the opportunity to collaborate with parents, teachers, and other members of the school team in support of our students’ academic, social, emotional, and/or behavioral functioning within the school setting. This is my third year at MPTCS and I am thrilled to be a part of this wonderful Village! Before returning to New Jersey and coming to MPTCS, I worked as a school psychologist in three different public school districts in Pennsylvania. I hold a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology and Elementary Education (K-8) from Ramapo College of New Jersey. I continued my education at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where I obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Child Clinical/School Psychology and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology.
