Marion P. Thomas Charter School - It Takes A Whole Village To Raise A Child

Parents play a vital role in the MPTCS Village. Each family contributes over 30 volunteer hours annually. In addition you will find parents active at every stakeholder level, employed as staff, represented on the Board of Trustees and work together with the staff in the Parent Teacher Organization. Last year over
255 families logged more than 5,556 volunteer hours of activity within our Village.

There are workshops such as:

EPIC (Every Parent Influences Children)
Ready Set Read
Parenting
- Think before you speak/ Communicating with my child’s teacher
- Being a single parent
- Helping your child succeed in school

Parents can also be involved in the following activities:

Parent Facilitators

Cheerleader coach
Parent mentoring
Kindergarten and eighth grade coordinator
Tiger of the Month
Movie night
Mid-year trip chaperones
