School Notebook: Technology advances at Marion P. Thomas

NEWARK — This year, 600 elementary and middle school students from Marion P. Thomas Charter School and their teachers are getting a learning boost from the new technology Computer Explorers has made available in their classrooms.
Computer Explorers is an international education company that uses computer programs to keep students interested in subjects including science, math and English. The Computer Explorers of Northern New Jersey gave the Marion P. Thomas School access to the curriculum for the 2011-2012 school year and trained the school’s teachers on how to use the program.
“I can see the difference already,” said John Gamble, Middle School principal on the Thomas campus. “Kids seem to be very engaged and teachers are getting real meaningful feedback on how to move technology forward at our school.”
